Paiting Pet Portraiture Day 1

I have no quit my job, determined to concentrate the next year or developing an actual art practice. For this to be possible I need to make a regular income from my paintings, receive commissions and, to a degree, commercialism my art.
I've therefore set myself a task- spend the text two weeks creating a range of pet portraits to show what I can do, create a leaflet and try to get my self known locally as a animal painter. I've spent a long time scorning such art before realizing that the quality of the work depends on the artist and not the subject. If they are painted badly they will look like nothing art, if they're created with skill they should be able to to say as much as any of my other paintings. That said I've only painted an animal once and it was a long way from perfect. I have a lot to learn.
I'll begin with working on four paintings simultaneously, one with acrylic, one oil, on beginning with acrylic as a base later layer before finishing it off with oils.

Day 1

Stretched and primed before sketching out the outlines. Then added base layer.

This one will be painted in oils through out

Both of these are painted in acrylic
